Where Our Treasure Lies

I have been bouncing around this post in my head for a while. Praying for clarity as to whether or not I should really blog about it. I don’t want to offend anyone. I don’t want people to feel uncomfortable. I don’t want people to get mad at me. And really, I don’t want people to think we just want their money, because we don’t. God is providing for this adoption in amazing ways, and I feel no need to beg, plead or remind our family and friends that we are trying to raise the funds to bring M home. But finally this morning, after absorbing and reflecting on the...

Financial Praise

Posted by on Jul 21, 2010 in Adoption #1 - Sarah, Finances | 3 comments

Today I have a praise report… We were still about $4,000 short of having all of our funds for the adoption. Until last week:) On Friday I showed up to a friend’s house to pick up her daughter for a play date. They were having a garage sale. As we chatted, she took my hands and said “Kameron, this is for you.” – Tears on both sides! Humbled, blessed, humbled, amazed. Then,  Jason found out he may be able to pick  up another freelance job (bless his heart – he is a HARD worker), and that, in addition to our continued monthly savings, should put us only a...

Freedom in Recklessness Founded in Christ

A few days ago I was reading “My Upmost For His Highest”, by Oswald Chambers, and I just had to share this. Keep Recognizing Jesus (June 18th) The wind really was boisterous and the waves really were high, but Peter didn’t see them at first. He didn’t consider them at all; he simply recognized his Lord, stepped out in recognition of  Him and “walked on water.” Then he began to take those things around him into account, and instantly, down he went. Why couldn’t our Lord have enabled him to walk at the bottom of the waves, as well as on top of them? He...

The Cost of Adoption & the Value of A Child’s Life – American or Not

Posted by on Jun 19, 2010 in Adoption #1 - Sarah, Dealing With Non-Supportive Friends/Family, Finances, Spiritual Battle and Growing Faith | 2 comments

I hope this post does not come across too harsh, but Jason and I  feel very strongly that we need to make some things very clear. Today we realized that 1) not everyone understands why adoption costs so much, and 2) that some people believe that the life of an American child is more valuable than the life of a child in another country. Ignorance about International Adoption can sometimes lead to the assumption that the need in other countries is not really that serious, and that corruption is involved and that babies are actually “bought” in third world countries. I guess when we...

Praise God – today was a Great Day!

Praise God! Today was a GREAT day! * People we don’t even know dropped stuff off for our garage sale because they knew what it was for! * Garage sale went great – $300 more for the adoption! * We had a friend buy a kids puzzle for $500 (not included in the above amount;)) – WOW! * A friend of mine from Ohio surprised us by having pizza and drinks delivered to as at lunch time – WOW! * And, drum roll…. we got new pictures of baby “SI”. She is so much bigger and so beautiful. The photos were taken when she was 10 weeks old, the only other photo we had...
