Where Our Treasure Lies

I have been bouncing around this post in my head for a while. Praying for clarity as to whether or not I should really blog about it. I don’t want to offend anyone. I don’t want people to feel uncomfortable. I don’t want people to get mad at me. And really, I don’t want people to think we just want their money, because we don’t. God is providing for this adoption in amazing ways, and I feel no need to beg, plead or remind our family and friends that we are trying to raise the funds to bring M home. But finally this morning, after absorbing and reflecting on the...

Why the Silence? M’s story part I

Why the silence lately??? Because I knew if I blogged at all, I would spill the beans! Today Jason and I officially accepted the referral of a precious little boy from Ethiopia. Our journey to him and everything that has occurred along the way is nothing less than miraculous. We decided not to announce this adoption until we had the official referral because our agency (YWAM) was honest and upfront with us from the beginning and said, frankly, that this adoption was impossible and it was unrealistic for us to expect it to happen. We also want to be clear that YWAM did not show us any favor or...

Reflections on Ethiopia…

Jason got home safe and sound on Sunday evening. However, since we headed straight to church that night, and with last night being Halloween, we have not even had a chance to talk in great detail about his trip. And I do  not know when he will have a spare moment to write out his own reflections on the trip. But, one of the women who was on the trip, Nicola, emailed out this short reflection of her experience. It is  beautiful. I pray it helps open your eyes and softens your heart to those who so desperately need our love and support. Enjoy the read: Dear friends, Having just returned home...

1st days in Korah, ET…

Jason and the team have been in Ethiopia for 2 full days, 12 more to go. Here is an email I received form Jason today.I am leaving it the way he typed it, simply because it is sweet and I love the way he writes to me. I also spoke to him on the phone and he shared so much, too much to try to write in detail here. However, a few things that really struck me were when he said that the people you see on the streets when you drive around Addis live in luxury compared to those in Korah (if you have been to Ethiopia, then you know how impoverished the general people of Addis and the country are, so...

Jerimiah 29:11

Jeremiah 29:11 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. God has reminded me of this verse A LOT lately. But before I go there… Sorry I have been soooo terrible at blogging. Life has been crazy and it is the furthest thing from my mind. We have faced some serious trials, and I am focusing my energy on my marriage and family at the moment. However,  as usual, I feel the need to be transparent. Maybe some people will think this post  is tacky and I should keep my problems to myself,...
